State Grass The State Grass, is the Bluebunch Wheatgrass. This grass is unique to Eastern Washington. Bluebunch Wheatgrass was a blessing to the pioneers, farmers and it continues to play a major role in our agricultural industry today. It became the State Grass in 1989. It's botanical name is "Agropyron spicatum".
